A new bypass? Or the widening of the existing one? If its the later, it wont be a bypass soon as city is growing around it.

The Link Shown there will clear all your doubts I Hope.
Its now in the feasibility stage.Lets wait for the final.Then only can will clear whether new one will come or not.

As part of the Regional Road Network System 2021,for trivandrum, there are proposals for three Ring Roads.
The NH -47 ring road is proposed to orginate form Vettiyara(on Quilon-Attingal NH) pass through Kilimanoor, Palode, Aryanad, KatakkadaArthakuzhi and end in Neyyatinkara-Parassala NH.

The Midland Orbital Takes almost the same route as your the Ring-Rail posetd by you. Attingal- Venjaranmoodu,Nedumangadu to alaramapuram, with a connection to the Nh one from Nedumangadu to Aryanadu.

The coastal Axial is the one Which we call the By-pass from Kazhakkootam to Parassala through Vizhinjam - which is already almost actualised.

I will try to add the Google Map image of the 3 roads as soon as I could, for a better picture.
All the same, a great project for the district, no doubt.

Hey hope you all are aware about the new International Airport Terminal raising up near to Chakai (Entrance would be from near the Bharat Tyres on the Chaka-Inchakkal stretch of the Kazhakuttom-Inchivila NH 47 bypass ) The approach road would facilitate six-lane traffic. The land for the approach road had been acquired. A bridge would be constructed across the Parvathy Puthanar to connect the approach road to the new terminal.

Its some thing big yaar.. A 250 crore project...last week i was on the site.. the structure is almost there

The terminal is of a modular, steel-and-glass design.The initial phase on 27 acres will be capable of directly handling three wide-body aircraft such as the Boeing 747/777 or Airbus A-300/340/380, at one time .With the New Terminal, Trivandrum becomes one of the first airports in India to have twin terminal complexes in line with major airports like Kuala Lampur's KLIA and Singapore's Changi.

Along with the Rs 250 Crore Terminal complex a Rs 70 Crore Air India Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility .This facility which will service Boeing 737-800 series aircraft will be the biggest in Kerala and one of the very few in India.

Wake up guys!!! our city is growing....

ok, here is the proposed plan as per the above info...hope we are right here.

Yellow-existing NH 47 via Attingal-Kazhakkuttam-Trivandrum proper-Nemam-Neyyatinkara-Parassala
Red- Proposed Trivandrum NH 47 ring road via Kilimanoor(bisecting MC Road), Palode(crossing Shenkotta Road), Aryanad, Kattakkada and joining the NH after Neyyatinkara.
Pink- The Midland Orbital route proposing to circumnavigate the city connecting the existing growth centres like Attingal-Venjarammodu-Nedumangadu-Balaramapuram-Vizhinjam. This development would be vital to channelize the container and industrial loads from the Bypass Road and the NH 47.
Blue-the existing NH Bypass until Kovalam and dotted blue lines indicate the u/c alignment.

Fact is that majority of Trivandrum residents dont know about the new terminal! I remember one of my friends calling me a liar when i said about the new terminal last week. Lets hope things will change.. If we dont boast about our city , who else will?

Thats some work Scorpiogenius! If this project is completed, majority of the traffic through the city can be diverted. Also , it helps in development of inland areas like Nedumangad as it happened with the existing NH bypass.

Far worse, imagine all those Container trucks and trailers plying via Kovalam-Thiruvallam-Chakkai-Kazhakkuttam-Technocity, after Vizhinjam is a reality....If you havnt experienced, its will be a nightmare...

Ever travelled on Mangalore-Goa highway especially on Mangalore city and suburbs??? You will understand what I mean.. Cars and buses following the 20km/hr trailors in a long tail of 1-2 km is a common sight there. Our Ernakulam-Trichur highway is another eg of the mess a heavy load highway can make. So better divert those traffic via a new bypass road, or pay the price...
